Bible Verse of the Day Saturday May 4th, 2024

Ephesians 5:20  always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

There are many amusement parks scattered around our country, and there is one thing they all have in common. They spend untold money on advertising to draw people to their facility.  One of the draws they all focus on is who has the scariest roller coaster. All these rides must balance fun and fright, thus the classification "thrill rides." These rides joggle and bounce us around for several minutes until we become dizzy; some might even lose their lunch. Forget about all our time styling our hair; it becomes a jumbled-up mess.

In specific ways, we can compare our lives to "thrill rides." We get plummeted around, sometimes flying high, and then at the next turn, it feels like the bottom just dropped out. Sometimes, we feel dizzy and sick, but the thrill will remain if we remain grounded in Christ Jesus and His Holy Word. Life is a unique, extraordinary journey that God gives us as a gift. It is a one-time occasion, and we do not get a second ride. Maintaining an attitude of thankfulness is the means to flourishing in a world with sharp turns and scary drops.

The thrill rides of life enhance our lives in various ways. They test and show us where we fail in our walk with the Lord. They foster character and closeness through pain and steadfastness. They show us glances of glory far beyond anything we could ever imagine. They move us past ourselves while rendering us deeply aware of who we are in Christ Jesus. The ride allows us to keep our eyes and lives on track with God and maintain a deep sense of thankfulness. We can be thankful in all circumstances because the circumstances of life do not determine the quality of our lives, nor do they diminish the quality of our lives.

If we walk in the reality of our love relationship with God (which results in a joyful Christian life) and if we surrender to His purpose, then we can be thankful in all circumstances, being assured that God will see to it that all things work together for our greatest good.
