Matthew 5:3
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
There are times that we try to measure the state of our spiritual Health or that of others. Our every thought and desire in life may be to gratify God but we will soon find that our feeble attempts to please Him are so very insubstantial. As mere humans living in the flesh, we sometimes discover that our intentions are self-seeking and then our devotion to God is brought into some controversy It will, in the end, be of little consequence because no matter how hard we try to please God we will always come up lacking.

There is an “Eternal Hope” found only in Christ Jesus that will comfort and reassure each and every one of us. That Hope is that when God sees us, He sees Christ in us, not our weak mortal selves.
People sometimes get that verse confused; “poor in spirit” does not mean poor in physical terms “Poor in Spirit” means that we realize that we cannot make it on our own, and that we must put our full faith and trust in God. Consequently, when we do accept our spiritual poverty we will then be “Rich in Blessings” from God. Christ does not seek our insufficient efforts. It is all about the condition of the heart.
God did not Say in His Holy Word, blessed are the ones that accomplish their self-driven missions without any errors; He said: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, the humble". We may not achieve the results that we were shooting for, we could believe that we really created a disaster, however, The Lord will be delighted with us when we humbly bow before Him in a confession of our sins and ask for His forgiveness.
We will always be seen by God as “Righteous’ because we have the “Righteousness of Christ” within us. That bible fact should stand alone to keep us going when we stumble and become disheartened those times that we feel like our spiritual growth is not up to what we think it should be.
Our Salvation is not based on our accomplishments, it is and always will be because of the Sacrifice of Christ Jesus.
