Psalms 55:22 “Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let
the righteous be shaken.”
Many years ago I had to do a repair on a pair of reading glasses; I used some super glue to fix a broken hinge. Then I had a new problem, the super glue had stuck one of my fingers to the reading glasses. Sometimes the right solution to any problem can be the right solution; in this case the solution was fingernail polish remover. It weakened the bond that the super glue had bound my finger to the glasses with and I was free.
The problems and cares we face in life can be that way; we only need to find the right solution. Sometimes we have all had problems or cares that we can't seem to free ourselves from. We know from the scriptures that the right solution is to "cast our cares on the Lord" but we just can't let go.
If we try to hold on to these cares and search for the "right Solution" ourselves they will become the primary focus of our everyday lives for some time to come. We know that God is always there ready, willing and able to release us from this burden. What we must do is believe that God can and will take this and all other cares and burdens from our lives. We only have to choose to trust that God will do what He said He would do.
On the other hand a great burden of the Christian life is that we are human and as such we are weak and vulnerable, and we will always try to hang on to things we know we should hand over to God. Our wrongdoings and sins whether great or tiny will stick to us like the super glue that bound my finger to those reading glasses.
The answer to this dilemma has only one right solution, and it is and will always be, hand it over to God and then allow Him to "sustain" us. It simply makes no sense to remain stuck to these burdens and cares when we can hand them over to God. Our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus is telling us plain and simple to cast our cares on Him and He will sustain us.
