Safe and Secure in the Arms of Jesus Part 3
1 John 5:11-13 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life,
and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does
not have the Son of God does not have life. I write
these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may
know that you have eternal life.
From part two we spoke of two phrases that, if we understand and can comprehend the difference between the two, can solve our problem of doubting our salvation; they are RELATIONSHIP and FELLOWSHIP!
FELLOWSHIP with Christ Jesus!
1 John
1:7
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship
with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from
all sin.
What do we mean by
fellowship - perfect communion, it is harmony! Sometimes when we get angry with
our family members, or our spouse, we are out of fellowship with them, yet it
does not change our relationship! The harmony is broken!
If we do sin as a child of God, our fellowship with the Lord is broken. We live with a grieved Holy Spirit! If we are a son or daughter of God, we cannot sin and enjoy it!
There is not one child
of God who can sin and enjoy ourselves because we grieve the Holy Spirit's
indwelling living in our hearts and souls when we do. He will torment us about
the transgression that broke our fellowship with our Heavenly Father. How do we
make that fellowship right when it's broken? We do not come back and try to get
saved again!
1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Confess them, and God will forgive you! The fellowship then is brought back again! The most miserable people right now are those out of fellowship with our Heavenly Father - Christians living in a world of sin! When this happens, Satan will attempt to do what he does best, which is lie to us.
John 8:44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Satan will lie to us during these times that we might be out of fellowship with God and tell us not to believe what is in God's Holy Word. Satan wants us to think that we can lose our salvation so that he can drag us away from our sweet fellowship with Christ Jesus.
Finally, we can know we are saved by how God saved us. It was through His love, grace, and mercy. We did not find Jesus! He found us! Salvation and eternal life are a gift.
