Bible Verse of the Day Sunday January 24th 2021

Romans 16:20 The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.

Paul was saying that God will implement His sovereignty over Satan by crushing him under the feet of His children. Every level of false teaching is from Satan himself, although his delivery system will change from situation to situation. Satan will never cease to saturate the church with his evil and false doctrine. Because this is the truth of the matter, we as followers and believers in Christ Jesus must always be alert to the influx of Satan's lies and falsehoods.

Paul issued an overly critical warning to the body of Christ in Rome and to all Churches down through the ages. He urged all Christians to take note of the ones in their midst that were causing division in the body of Christ. His warning of division in the church was explicitly targeting doctrinal division and false biblical teachings. To some, it might seem a bit ironic that the "God of Peace" would do something so violent as crushing Satan. God will destroy the worldwide system of evil that Satan is promoting.

Biblically, peace does not mean the absence of hostility or conflict. Today's idea of peace is an absence of war, but peace is a wholeness or completeness in the Bible. The concept of this verse of scripture concerning peace is spiritual prosperity in that it has overcome evil. So, biblical peace defeats Satan and his evil ways, which is what Christ Jesus did on the Cross of Calvary.

The idea that propelled this writing could very well be a reference or suggestion to Genesis 3:15, where God made two promises. One was the first promise of the coming Messiah, the Savior of the world. The second was Satan's defeat and the victory over sin, which can be ours by surrendering ourselves to Christ Jesus and placing our faith and trust in Him, as our Lord and Savior. So, in that sense, God's elect crushed Satan under their feet.

In the preceding verse (Romans 16:19), Paul encourages his readers, then and now, to be wise about what is right and innocent about what is evil. Through His Holy Word, God has shown us that good is far more potent than evil, even though the world would have us believe the opposite. We do not have to be manipulated or controlled by Satan's corruption because Christ Jesus has claimed the victory over Satan on the Cross of Calvary. If we will but put ourselves in the capable hands of Christ Jesus, that victory can be ours.

Some folks spend a colossal amount of time watching televised and cable news. These can speak volumes concerning the state of affairs in our country and the world. However, they can be ignorant of Godly principles of good over evil in the world. There is a dangerous lack of power in the world today that can only come from the Word of God. Good daily lifestyles replace the bad ones, and we need more good practices of an in-depth study and understanding of God's Word to circumvent the influence of Satan's evil way of life.
