Bible Verse of the Day Tuesday February 23rd 2021

Proverbs 29:23 Pride brings a person low, but the lowly in sprit gain honor.

There is a list of seven things that God despises in Proverbs (Proverbs 6:16-10). Pride in a person's heart would be a root cause of any and maybe all of these seven detestable things. Pride is germinated, hatched, and given life by an unwholesome supposition of a lofty attitude. God’s Holy Word tells us that pride will always lead to the fall of anyone that allows themselves to be drawn into this trap of Satan (Proverbs 16:18). In truth, there have been downfalls of many people and countless realms and lands due to pride, which the pages of world history can verify.

God's Holy Word reminds all that come into its halls of truth that a proud or lofty heart will always fall. The Bible gives many warnings that pride will debase the soul, separate us from truth and reality and convert and alter haughtiness and conceit into legalism. The root cause of Satan's fall was a heart filled with pride and an unhealthy desire to usurp God. Pride will always be the foundation of sinful and immorality on the earth. God always has and will always oppose humanity's pride (James 4:6; 1 Peter 5:5). Just as in Satan's case, all that hope to rise above others in their pride will fall.

In the same way that God always resists the proud, He will undoubtedly supply the humble with an abundance of blessings through His love and grace. We do not have to leave the hallowed galleries of the Proverbs' writings to discover that God brings down the proud but gives honor and blessings to the humble in spirit. There is an important fact from the Scriptures that is often overlooked: humility always heralds and paves the way to salvation. When we all first came to know Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we realized that sinfulness had filled our deeds and activities with sinful actions in God's eyes. This phenomenon, which is a miracle, is known as conviction and is delivered by the Holy Spirit of God. This conviction can cause one of two reactions: either we surrender our hearts and souls to God or reject Christ Jesus knocking on the door of our heart (Revelation 3:20).

Pride will keep us in the dark outside the only true light of the world; however, merely surrendering our lives, heart, mind, body, and soul through undemanding and effortless humility will lead us to the grandest path that we will ever walk upon in this life. It is the path to eternal life with Christ Jesus for eternity. Jesus said there would only be a few that find it (Matthew 7:14). Will you be one of the few?
