Bible Verse of the Day Tuesday March 30th 2021

Romans 5:19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

Many conflicting stories are surrounding the consequences of Adam and Eve's sin relating to the Mosaic law. There will always be confusion until one accepts that the foundation for all sin is Adam and Eve's original sin that brought death into the world. People generally believe that humans are fundamentally good. However, the original sin doctrine teaches that humanity is characteristically evil through our ancestry traced back to Adam and Eve. To believe that humanity is essentially imperfect because of Adam and Eve's sin in the Garden of Eden is not recognized and acknowledged by the values and beliefs of the world. However, God's Word teaches us that we sin because we are sinners. The committing of our sins is not what makes us sinners, we are all sinners because our ancestral line traced back to our original parents, Adam, and Eve.

Sin and death entered the human race when Adam and Eve fell into Satan’s trap of doubting God’s Word and ate of the forbidden fruit. The cemeteries around the globe are the paramount witnesses to the sinfulness of humanity. There will never be a cure for death. We are all born sinners and we will all die as sinners, because of our correlation with Adam and Eve, and that sin passed on down through all generations.

As the first forefather of the human race Adam, with his wife Eve, broke the Law of God by partaking of the fruit of the “Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil” (Genesis 2:9;3:3). No one from Adam to Moses could be accused of breaking God’s Law simply because there was no law to break. However, all people that were born before the Law was given died in their trespasses and sin. The Mosaic Law was given to fallen humanity to let humans know that all are sinners, it was not given as a tool of repentance or forgiveness. The Mosaic Law was given to show the world that there was a great need in humanity for a Savior, because humans could not live according to the Law. The Apostle Paul teaches us that the Law was our “guardian until the coming of Christ Jesus” so that we could be justified through faith (Galatians 3:24). It is only when we compare our lives to God’s Law will we understand our necessity for a Savior. There has never been a human born in this world that could keep the entire Law throughout their lifetime. James tells us that to be justified by the Law we would have to live every point of the Law our whole lives, never breaking it, even in one point (James 2:10).

The reality is that by one person (Adam), all people are born in sin because of the first sin. It is only through the love, grace, and mercy of God that we can come to the only one (Christ Jesus) by which we can be declared righteous in God's eyes. It is not that we are made righteous through Christ Jesus; we realize the depth of the riches of God's goodness and grace, which enables anyone who believes in Christ Jesus to be declared righteous. Through the action of the one perfect Kinsman-Redeemer on the Cross of Calvary, anyone that comes to Christ Jesus can be filled with the righteousness of God through faith.
