Bible Verse of the Day Monday March 29th 2021

Luke 9:26 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”

It will never be an easy task to walk to the place of execution with Jesus; it will require us to align ourselves with one loathed and slain. If we become ashamed of Jesus, he will be ashamed of us when He comes in the glory of the Father accompanied by the Angels. If our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus had come to the earth as an influential and lavish person, attired with worldly grandeurs, he would undoubtedly have a legion of enthusiastic devotees, who most likely would all be hypocrites. Christ Jesus is coming back to earth in all of His glory, and if we want to share in that glory, we will have to rebel against the evil powers of Satan and the fleshly influences of this earth.

There was a young boy that was leading his dog on a leash down the street one day. This animal was very skinny and looking extremely underfed; he was a small dog about 15 pounds. A man asks the boy what kind of dog is that? To this, the young boy replied, “he’s a police dog.” The surprised man said the dog did not look much like a police dog, and the young boy said: “oh, he’s in the secret service.” There are many Secret Service Christians out there today, those who want so badly to fit in with the world around them that they are ashamed to tell the world that they are a follower of Christ Jesus.

We have done things in our life that we are ashamed of, things that we would not like the world to find out. We are ashamed of the things we have done and maybe some things we have not done that we should have done. We live in the greatest country in this world, and we are certainly blessed to live here in the United States of America.  Sometimes I am ashamed of this country. I am ashamed of the fact that this nation which declares "In God, We Trust," will not allow its children to pray in public schools. I am ashamed that we are not allowed to display the scene of the birth of our savior on any public property. Of all the things we could be ashamed of, we should never be ashamed of Christ or His gospel (Romans 1:16-17).

If someone is ashamed of our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus that shows that they don’t love Him. If a person is ashamed to speak to their friends and loved ones about the wonderful gospel; how Jesus gave His life and shed His precious blood to atone for our sins, then not only do they not love Jesus they also do not love the people that they are failing to witness to. How could someone who has the spirit of God indwelling in their heart; saved from the torments of eternal separation from God in the flames of Hell; how could that person be ashamed of the one that delivered them from the everlasting fury of Satan.

I will close this with this quote from J.C. Ryle (1816-1900).

“Whatever others around you think, don’t you ever be ashamed of being a Christian. Let them laugh, mock, jest, and scoff if they will. They will not scoff in the hour of death and in the Day of Judgment. Hoist your flag; show your colors; nail them to the mast. You may certainly be ashamed of drinking, gambling, lying, swearing, idleness, pride, and failing to go to church on the Lord’s Day. But of reading the Bible, praying, and belonging to Christ, you have no cause to be ashamed at all. Let those laugh that will. A good soldier is never ashamed of the colors of his nation’s flag, and his uniform. Be careful that you are never ashamed of your Master.”
