Proverbs 1:5 let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance.
All of us saved, born again
washed in the blood, believers, and followers of Christ Jesus desire to find
and follow God's will for our lives. Sadly, many miss that boat because it
requires a daily spiritual growth pattern. The problem is that too many
Christians believe that spiritual growth is automatic. From the time we emerge
from our mother's womb, we begin a natural growth process. Throughout our
childhood, we have parents and teachers daily helping us grow into mature
adults. Growing becomes a regular daily activity; however, the problem begins
when we do not have anyone urging and encouraging us to grow. Then the
responsibility for continued growth and development falls on our heads, and if
we neglect that accountability, our growth process comes to a halt.
Satan will attempt to lead us to
believe that spiritual maturity comes from a knowledge of God's Word. There are
those out there in the Christian world who are proud that they can quote bible
verse after bible verse. However, knowing God's word without total surrender to
His will causes us to run in place. It would be akin to running on a treadmill;
we exert a massive amount of energy but make no progress. Being filled with massive amounts of
knowledge but not putting it towards God's will is of no spiritual value.
Some falsely believe that
spiritual growth is equated by how long we have been a Christian. If a
competitive shooter fires their weapon for years and never hits the desired
target, believing there is an improvement, they are only fooling themselves.
Experience is precious only if we grow spiritually every day and use that
experience for God's honor and glory.
