Psalm 119:130 The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.
The word
unfolding in this verse brings to mind the unfolding of a tent entrance. When
the Children of Israel spent forty years in the wilderness, they all lived in
tents. There was only one entrance to the tent, the front flap, and when it was
unfolded it allowed light to come into the shelter.
When we unfold
our hearts' entrance, it will allow the light of God's Word to come in and
illuminate the truth that we so desperately need. It will make the everyday
situations that we have to face become more transparent and easier to handle.
It is a sad state of affairs that with God's light shining all around, some
today choose to leave their heart flap closed and miss out on the Light of the
World, Christ Jesus (John 8:12). The Light of the World does not find an
entrance into some minds and souls because they are closed and blocked with
self-importance, narrow-mindedness, and unconcern.
The very entrance of the Word of God into one's heart
brings about a clarity of fullness of the one that is the light of the world.
To hear the Word with the mind for the sake of learning is of little or no
value; it is only when the heart is filled in every corner of every chamber
with His light that we begin to feel a closeness to Christ Jesus. We can learn
the origins and the glory and beauty of what life looks like after this short
stay in this world Through God's Word. We learn what we are by nature and what
we can become through the grace of God. We also learn what God has done and is
continuing to do for us and what he expects of us. Furthermore, we can
understand the enemy that we face in this life and how to prevail against him.
Some believe that one must have a Ph.D. in Theology to
comprehend what God is teaching us in His Holy Word. The truth of the matter is
not one person will completely understand the entirety of God’s Word in this life.
The good news is we do not have to completely understand all that is in God’s
Word, all we must do is believe it.
There are truths
in the Gospel of Christ Jesus that God wants us to understand. There are also mysteries
that we will not understand until after we have left our sinful bodies behind.
Believing that Christ Jesus is the only way to eternal life and placing our
faith and trust in Him, as our Lord and Savior, is the only way to life
everlasting. We do not have to understand how that is possible, we just have to
believe it and place our faith and trust in the fact that every word in the Bible
is true.
