Bible Verse of the Day Tuesday March 23rd 2021

Jeremiah 33:1-3 While Jeremiah was still confined in the courtyard of the guard, the word of the LORD came to him a second time: "This is what the LORD says, he who made the earth, the LORD who formed it and established it —the LORD is his name: Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’

Jeremiah was being held prisoner by King Zedekiah of Judah because he had prophesied that Babylon would succeed in taking the Nation of Judah into captivity. Moreover, they were going to take King Zedekiah into Babylon as a prisoner (Jeremiah 32:1-5). Zedekiah was the last King of the great Nation of Israel. God introduced Himself here as the architect and creator of the earth (Genesis 1; Jeremiah 33:2-3; Jeremiah 10:12-13). He said this to show His power in what He was about to promise to do. God was telling the people of Judah, through the Prophet Jeremiah, that if they came to Him in a faith-filled prayer, they could be confident in His answers to those prayers. This upheaval was a time of fear and confusion for the people of Judah. The siege from Babylon and the prophecy of the soon coming judgment had caused horror among the Israelites.

Jeremiah had already prophesied that Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, would take them prisoner and serve him for seventy years. God’s plans for the nation of Israel were unknown to most people, however, He would show them some of these things to answer the Prophet Jeremiah’s prayer. God always stands ready to respond to the call of the hearts of human beings, however, we must first ask God for help and support (Matthew 7:7; James 4:2). God will make Himself known to us, as He has since He created man and woman.

To make Himself known to us, He wants to hear from us, He wants us to reach out to Him. This is the reason that prayer and bible study are interconnected. Our communication with God is a two-way path, prayer takes our petitions to the Throne of God and God’s Holy Word brings the answer to us. We do have the Holy Spirit's indwelling that will lead, guide and direct us into what direction we should be moving, but this happens in conjunction with the Bible. Through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, we are given an understanding of the mind of God through His Holy Word. This is the only way we will ever be able to discern the truth of God, through Christ Jesus.

John 6:45 It is written in the Prophets: ’They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me.

The Scriptures reveal all spiritual and divine truth and the only way we can ever hope to understand what Christ Jesus is saying to us is from the Bible, through the direction and guiding of the Holy Spirit. It is not some magical formula, it is simply a combination of prayer, bible study, surrender, and service to our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. All God requires of us is just a strong heart's desire to learn more about God and have a closer and sweeter relationship with our Lord and Savior. Where we are in our spiritual growth is not as important as a consistent daily spiritual growth. In other words, you feel closer to the Lord today than you did yesterday and you will feel closer to Him tomorrow than you do today.
