Wedding feast of the Lamb (19:6-10)
Revelation 19:7 Let
us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has
come, and his bride has made herself ready.
It may be difficult for men to
associate with being a bride; however, Christ Jesus does not choose only one
person to become his wife; He has chosen a massive number of men and women (His
church) to become His beloved. Because of this marriage of our Lord and Savior,
all followers and believers have a spiritual and emotional bond with no end and
will carry on throughout eternity.
The imagery at that point
changes. The redeemed, however envisioned altogether as a bride, are pictured
exclusively as those welcome to share the wedding feast with Christ. John, overcome
by the vision, is enticed to adore the heavenly messenger who disclosed it to
him. He is reminded that Jesus, not the heavenly messenger, is the wellspring
of every one of these disclosures (9-10).
Christians are to cheer in the Lord, celebrate in that to
other people, and give God the glory. Numerous Christians look for satisfaction
in progress, superficial points of interest, and riches. Others look for joy in
companions, public activity, and marriage. All things considered, others
discover satisfaction in sex and joys. None of this is wrong in itself, in the
proper perspective, yet when we make them the primary reason for our lives,
they become wrong in God's economy. God's motivation for our lives is to
Glorify God and worship Him until the end of time. In the event that we set up
anything in place of that, we are guilty of idolatry.
True Christian joy stems from knowing God on a personal
level. Some believe that they can find joy in being single again. “Marriage is
such a wretched and gloomy institution. I wish I were single again.” Others
believe they will discover happiness in being married. “Oh, if I could find
romance, then I would be happy.” Both suppositions are erroneous; the grass
will always look greener on the other side of the fence. We can enjoy being
single as well as being married if we put the priority on the thing of most
significant value—the glory of God as our first priority. Only then can we have
triumphed and genuinely enjoy it. Otherwise, success will make us dismal and gloomy.
