2 Corinthians 4:3-4 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
There are many people in the
world today, as there have been for centuries, that reject Christ Jesus.
Sometimes unbeknownst to them, they are in rebellion to God, and consequently,
they do not want God’s moral standards applied to their lives. They are living
this rebellion towards God because of the influences of a fallen and sinful
world. Through their wants and desires, they seek to obtain righteousness on
their own, which is known as self-righteousness, which is no righteousness at
all. There are only two stances in this world a person can hold. We are either
surrendered to Christ Jesus, accepting Him as our Lord and Savior, believing He
is the true Messiah as well as the only way to heaven, because of His
substitutionary work on the Cross of Calvary, or in rebellion to God.
There is no in between, one
cannot be a fence rider, you are either on Christ Jesus’ side or on Satan’s
side, Satan owns the fence riders. In this world we live in, there are only two
religions, irrespective of the many names they go by. One is the religion of
self, which is self-righteousness, where one sees no need for surrendering to
Christ Jesus, and tries to work their own way into heaven. The other is
Christianity, which teaches that we cannot save ourselves. In true
Christianity, salvation is by the Grace of God and our faith in the true
promised Messiah, surrendering ourselves to Christ and turning our backs on the
ways of the world.
Satan will try his best to
convince all that there is a choice in the way we approach God, which is a
complete and total lie, from the father of lies (John 8:44). Regardless
of whatever name a false religion might go by, there is no way that one will
ever be able to earn their way into God’s heaven, despite how intense or
forceful the acts of faith perpetrated by the followers of these false
religions.
To counter these attacks from
Satan, that are designed to harass the children of God, we must always be about
our Fathers work, which is bringing the truth of the Gospel of Christ Jesus to
a lost, dark, and dyeing world. No matter how intense the attack from Satan
becomes, he cannot blind us from the truth, that Jesus is the way the truth and
the life (John 14:6). These assaults from our enemy, Satan, also can
never alter our eternal destination.
They can, however, hamper and obstruct our witness for Our Lord and Savior and bring about disorder and turmoil into our lives. This is the reason why it is so overly critical that we trust and depend on the guidance of the Holy Spirit that indwells in our hearts and souls, and not on our own power.
There are three enemies of every follower and believer in Christ Jesus that we have to contend with. The first is our own sin nature, that is always in conflict with our spirit (Galatians 5:17). The second enemy we must face daily is a fallen world at enmity against God, and the third is Satan himself and his evil followers. This evil force is why it is imperative that we rely on God’s power and not try to go it alone.
Satan and his followers can easily blind those
in rebellion to God, whether those followers are the evil spiritual followers
of Satan or the humans whom Satan is controlling. Satan's object is to blind
the eyes of these to the truth of the Gospel and the opportunity of salvation
possible only through Christ Jesus. Satan, many times will carry this out, by
bringing wealth, prosperity, comfort, and ease to their lives, so that they
might not even realize they are at enmity with God, thus causing these people to
turn their backs on God.
There are absolutely no limits to
which Satan will carry out his objectives, which is one more soul spending
eternity with him in Hell. Consequently, the only way we can move forward in
preaching and teaching the truth of the Gospel of Christ is through the Holy
Spirit's power, the Armor of God, and God’s Holy Word. A daily diet of God's
Word, prayer and surrendering to the Holy Spirit will allow us to stand up and
fight against spiritual warfare waged around us daily.
