Bible Verse of the Day Tuesday April 27th 2021

James 2:14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?

There are no inconsistencies or paradoxes in God’s Holy Word. Still, some believers in Christ Jesus say James is at odds with the teachings of Paul because James appears to be grounding our salvation on good works, while Paul unmistakably writes to the Christians in Rome that we are justified by faith (Romans 5:1).  Unbelievers cannot see our faith, so they will have to observe the influence and effect that Christ Jesus has had on our lives. We can only persuade non-believers in Christ with evidence of faith that they can see. James is accentuating that true heart salvation centers around works and deeds that the carnal human can understand. Paul, on the other hand, is talking about the FOUNDATION of justification, which is faith; still on the other hand, James is referring to the FRUITS of justification which is works and deeds.

Only God can see the inner portals of our hearts; consequently, only God can know the basis of our salvation, which is our faith. Furthermore, all fruit of salvation will be evident when a Christian lives in spirit and truth. The foundation and results of salvation can only be alive in a born again, washed in the blood, follower, and believer in Christ Jesus. We cannot see either salvation or faith in an unsaved individual or a pretending Christian. The 11th Chapter of the Book of Hebrews is known as the "Hall of Fame chapter" of the Bible. In this great chapter (Hebrews 11), we will find a comprehensive list of people throughout the Bible who not only based their lives on faith, but acted on their faith.  These great Saints spoken of in the "Faith Hall of Fame" chapter of the Bible blended their faith with the values of the Word of God, and the result was good works and good deeds.

The Apostle Paul and James are explaining salvation, our saving faith, from two distinct outlooks, both God and humanities. However, James is also comparing the faithful surrendered follower of Christ Jesus and the person who only has a head salvation, not a heart's salvation. Sadly, many counterfeit Christians use this verse (James 2:14) to reproach and blame a brother or sister in Christ of not being saved, simply because they cannot see an outward sign of good deeds.  Let us all pray that as we live our lives in faith that the world will see Christ Jesus in us, and that we might show forth the result of good deeds to the praise and glory of our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.
