Bible Verse of the Day Monday April 26th 2021

Leviticus 1:1-2 The Lord called to Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting. He said, “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When anyone among you brings an offering to the Lord, bring as your offering an animal from either the herd or the flock.

The one critical aspect of this verse of scripture is that God spoke to Moses from the tent of meetings, the Tabernacle, the temporary Temple of God that later became a permanent Temple Building. Some Christian falsely believes and teachs that the Church Building, the brick, and mortar structure, is where God meets with His people today. The Church building did not take the place of the Temple of God; our hearts, souls, and spirits are where God meets with us today. The New Testament writers continue to speak of the Temple, but the Temple they are referring to are the people of God (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

There was an incident that occurred during the time our Savior was on the Cross of Calvary. There were several different occurrences, but this one was a clear message from God to all that would accept the sacrifice of Christ Jesus for the remission of sin. The curtain that separated the Holy of Holies was torn down (Matthew 27:50-51), and God no longer would meet the people in a Temple built by human hands (Acts 17:24). God no longer needed that Temple and the religious system that was part of the Temple worship. The Temple in Jerusalem was abandoned and later destroyed by the Roman Army in A.D. 70. Jesus prophesied the destruction of the Temple during His earthly ministry (Mark 13:2).

The veil that separated the Holy of Holies from the world was an unceasing reminder that the sin of humankind adjudicated all human beings inadequate and ineligible to be in the presence of God. The reality that the sin offering was offered one time a year and that there was multiple offerings daily was a well-defined fact that simple animal sacrifices could not eradicate the sin of humankind. Our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, because of His selfless sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary, has made it possible for all saved, born again, washed in the Blood followers, and believers in Christ Jesus to approach the throne of God at will (Hebrews 4:14-16).

There is a line in a song entitled “Built on Amazing Grace” that was recorded first by “the Florida Boys.” The opening line of the song says: This body is a temple, a place where Jesus dwells, He paid the price on Calvary and I’m not about to sell, ever since He started building, He’s been my dearest friend, Construction’s not completed, but the Carpenter’s Moved in.
