1 Peter 1:23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.
According
to the Guinness Book of World Records, the Bible is the world’s bestselling
book. Between the early parts of the nineteenth century and the latter part of
the twentieth century, over 2 billion copies were printed. From the late 1960s
going into the twenty-first century, that number has gone past 120 billion. The
best conservative estimates are that today there are close to half a million
new bibles published every year worldwide.
How can the popularity of this book from antiquity remain strong throughout all of these many years? The answer is as crystal clear as the message inside this beautiful collection of books: the infallible, indisputable Word of the one and only true God. It is the Word of God that has been given to us in a language that all can comprehend and understand. It introduces us to the one that created the universe, all of heaven and earth. It also leads us down the only path in which we can enjoy the peace and excitement of a close walk and personal relationship with our creator. It allows us to know and follow the Will of God and understand His plan for this world and His children.
It gives us an unambiguous meticulous awareness of the perplexed human nature and allows us to know and understand why we act and react the way we do. We can learn more about the nature of human beings from the Prophets of the Bible, the life of Jesus during His earthly ministry, and from the accounts of ones whose lives were touched by Christ than from any other book that the world has ever known.
The social sciences of the world, sociology, psychology, anthropology, etc., are a collection of theories and opinions of intelligent people that have done extensive studies into human nature. There are many different theories about why people behave the way they do, some agree partially with others, and some disagree totally. Only the Bible can cut right to the heart of the problem, which is the human heart (Jeremiah 17:9). The Bible not only lets us know that the problem is our sinful heart but tells us how that through Christ Jesus, we can be given a new heart, a new life that is free from the chains of Satan and one that allows us to live with the victory that God intends for us (Ezekiel 36:26; John 10:10).
If you are not living today with the “full life” that Christ Jesus promises us as recorded in John 10:10, that is the total victory in Jesus; then it might be wise to turn to this book, the Holy Bible that is today and has always been the World’s Best Seller. The Bible affords us the unique opportunity to perceive ourselves as God sees us.
