Bible Verse of the Day Sunday May 16th 2021

2 Corinthians 3:18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Many people live in the prison of domestic violence, abused physically and mentally by spouses, parents, other family members, or even their own children. The abuser continues a pattern of abuse they were subjected to during the years they were growing up. It is no surprise that this continues generation after generation.

Circumstances that occur in our lives that are beyond our control can intensely shape how we behave. We, however, do not have to become a hostage of our former state of affairs. We can restructure how we think and act by controlling our circle of friends, the books we read, the music we listen to, and the movies or TV we watch. There have been many people with an unpleasant past who have become very well-thought-of reputable men and women.

As Children of God, we must move in directions that correctly reflect our relationship with our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. We must make every effort to move away from the patterns that shaped our life under our old master, Satan. There is no way anyone will see Christ Jesus except through His Children; we are to be an excellent reflector to shine His light out to the lost of the world. It is of supreme importance that we keep our reflector clear of the influence of the world.

We cannot do this simply by making the correct choices; we must have the transforming power of the Holy Spirit working within us. Paul tells us from our text today (2 Corinthians 3:18) that we will be transformed by contemplating (meditating and studying) on the glory of the Lord. When we look into God’s Word and apply its values and standards to our life experience, it will set the stage for an unadulterated and deep-seated change in our lives. It is possible to slow our growth as Christians by ignoring or disregarding the Bible. When we choose to abandon Bible Study, we are in essence saying to God, “You do not have anything I want to hear.” When we do this, Satan will fill the void that the absence of Bible study leaves in our hearts and souls. Paul is telling us that we must make Jesus our only focus in life, as the old hymn tells us, “turn your eyes upon Jesus and the things of the world will grow strangely dim.” We must die from this worldly life to be born again into a life of surrender in service to our most precious Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.

It is of no significance what happened in our past life. When we give our lives to God He will forgive all of our past sins and reshape us into the person He wants us to be.
