Bible Verse of the Day Sunday May 2nd 2021

1 John 4:14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.

In God’s master plan, He had set a time in history, and when that time had fully come, He sent His Son, to be born of a woman, to live a perfect life as a human being. Some have wondered why this particular time in history. There was something in the world that had never been and has not been since. Historically, Pax Romana, the peace of Rome, engulfed the world as a whole. This lack of any wars made possible freedom in trade and travel through the world, which was at the most significant level in history. The Roman road system that interlinked the entire known world at that time, along with a language of the empire, the Greek language, made travel and communications favorable. This common language spoken throughout the empire made it an encouraging and promising time to spread the gospel throughout the earth. Christ Jesus did not choose to come at some indiscriminate time in history; it was at the exact moment when God had set; when He put His plan in motion, in eternity.

God concluded the dispensation of the Law by sending His Son to pay the penalty of the broken Law. This verse of scripture resolves by telling us that we become adopted into His Royal Family. That means that we have all the rights and privileges that the Son has; we are co-equals with Christ Jesus in the Royal family of God (Romans 8:16-17). When someone is adopted, they receive the parents' name; they are full members of the family equal to the natural-born children in the family. We were orphans in the world, and God adopted us through our faith in Christ Jesus, and we are forever part of the Royal family of God through the blood of Christ (Ephesians 2:13).

Christ Jesus coming to the world is God’s love manifested towards us that He sent His Son to die that we might live through Him (1 John 4:9-10). As we contemplate on the story of the physical birth of our Lord and Savior, let us not forget it led to the Cross. The beginning of the story (the Manger) is great and wonderful, but it is the end of the story (the Cross) that saves us.
