Bible Verse of the Day Monday July 26th 2021

Genesis 12:2 I will bless you and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing

There are many great lessons for the modern-day Christian found in the Old Testament. Unfortunately, we sometimes overlook them while we are studying the wonderful world of bible history. We can find one such in the 12th chapter of Genesis, verse 2, where God pronounces His blessing on Abraham. God said to Abraham: I will bless you, and you shall be a blessing to others. The great blessing that he received from God was not for him to keep to himself but to share with the world for generations to come.

This extraordinary Bible story should be a lesson for us today; we have received a powerful and amazing grace in our lives in the form of our salvation and the power of the Holy Spirit that lives within us.

God has blessed His children in numerous ways and continues to do so every day of our lives. We have the most incredible message that the world could ever receive, and we should be sharing this with the people around us. It is true that the personal relationship we have with our Savior, Christ Jesus brings us great joy and peace. However, Jesus did not save us so that we might sit around and bask in the pure joy and not share this with others.

God Comforts a saved person for them to be a comfort to others. Christ Jesus routes his comforts through His followers and believers. The Apostle Paul suffered much difficulty and suffering during his Missionary Journeys (2 Corinthians 11:23-29). We should not find it strange that we also encounter much distress in our lives as well. Christian tribulations are not an avenue to condolences, or a means to solicit a pity party; the idea is that we can rest in the sovereign care of God in all we do. The thought in this verse is that we rest in God’s sovereign care in each circumstance we may experience (1 Peter 5:7).

The Holy Word of God tells us that we should witness to others the great things that Christ has done in our lives and that He will also do the same for all (Acts 1:8). God brings comfort to our lives in times of great need and trials so that we might comfort those around us, that are going through the same thing (2 Corinthians 1:4). God does indeed bestow great blessings upon our lives so that we will be a blessing to others. Count your blessings today and then ask yourself, with so many blessings in my life from the Lord, how can I be a blessing to others today? Was I a blessing to someone yesterday?
