Psalm 12:6 And the words of the LORD are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible like gold refined seven times.
This verse of Scripture compares and contrasts God’s Word with the words of humans. There is usually a yes or no when we speak, but when God speaks, there is always a yes and amen to that. We sometimes say things that we wish later on that we would not have uttered, but God’s Word is always perfect, unblemished, and pure. In this verse, David speaks of silver being “purified in a crucible.” Psalm 12:6 refers to the most severe form of purifying silver, whereby it would be put through intense heat in a vat over a fire. This process assured that the dross was all burned away and what remained was the brilliant and precious metal. The Word of God has always suffered the furnace of intimidation, scholarly disparagement, theoretical uncertainty, and discoveries of the scientific community. The only thing that was ever lost was the false interpretations of human beings that gripped it like contaminant and pollutant to exquisite metals.
After many
thousands of years, God’s Holy Word has continued powerful and precise, and
today it is just as sound, stalwart, and powerful as it has always been, and it
will continue that way for eternity. Paul wrote that the wisdom of this age was
coming to nothing (1 Corinthians 2:6), but God’s Word, which has been around
even before the concept of time began, will outlast all human misconceptions of
the truth (John 14:6). God’s Word has undergone every test imaginable to
humankind; however, not one single creed or promise of God has ever suffered
incineration in the fire of human ignorance.
God’s Word should
be the guideline, the standard by which followers and believers in Christ Jesus
carry out their walk in life. Although it has been said in years past that the
Bible is a roadmap by which we should follow, in this modern and technological
time we are in today, it would be the GPS that guides us to our destination.
Following the leading guiding and direction of God’s Holy Spirit will assure
that our words remain steadfast in the purity and integrity that would reflect
God’s Word, which is the Light of Christ Jesus, to this lost, dark, and dying
world.
