Bible Verse of the Day Saturday July 24th 2021

1 Samuel 3:10 The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" Then Samuel said, "Speak, for your servant is listening."

The timeless biblical story of the prayers of Hannah for God to send her a baby son is emblazoned on the hearts of many.  Hannah promised God that she would return the child to Him for His service if He granted her request. God answered the prayers of this childless woman, and Samuel was born to Hannah. She was faithful to her words to God, and as soon as she weaned him, she brought the young child to the temple at Shiloh where Eli was the High Priest.

While Samuel was still a young boy, God visited him in the night and called out his name. Young Samuel believing the old priest had called him and went to his bedside. The third occurrence of this, Eli realized it was God calling out to young Samuel and instructed the boy to return to his bed, and when this happened again to say, "Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening."

Samuel followed Eli's instruction, and when God did call out his name as before, Samuel spoke the words that have become the response of people, down through the millennia, that have turned their backs on the ways of the world. Forgetting about their plans and schemes and committing their lives to God and His service, "Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening."

God is not concerned about a person's gender, place of birth, educational background, or social or monetary status; His only requirement is that a person is ready to respond to His call to spread His Word to the lost souls of this world. Today God does not audibly speak to us, but He does speak to us loud and clear through His Holy Word. The message of the Cross of Calvary, the supreme sacrifice made by our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus for the salvation of all people, is a message that the world needs to hear. Sometimes people will reject the news of the Cross as foolishness, but it is the only message that will save our eternal souls and allow us to spend eternity with our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.

Too many people today would rather hear a message of what the Gospel of Christ Jesus can do for them and their worldly pursuits instead of what we can do to furtherance the Gospel to the entire planet and service to God and others. Consequently, they have gathered around the people that are willing to tell them whatever they want to hear and do it in the name of Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 4:3).

There is no greater joy, delight, or fullness found in this life than what we see in total and complete surrender to the service of God and others. If we are seeking the greatest fulfillment that this life can bring, we cannot find it in the corridors of worldly gratification and satisfaction. We can only find it by sacrificing our lives to our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. We do not discover this in some great flash, a one-time laying down of our lives.

We accomplish this by giving our lives one day at a time to assure that we share the Gospel of Christ Jesus to the only one that can save their eternal soul, our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.
