Bible Verse of the Day Thursday July 22nd 2021

2 Corinthians 9:6-8 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

The Apostle Paul uses an allegory that would be very familiar to his readers in the first century, as well as it is to us today. The final product of any farmers' labor will depend on the quality of seeds they plant and how much attention they put into the crop they have sown. This farm illustration is a perfect analogy that we should apply to our lives and our service to Christ Jesus and His Gospel as Christians. In this specific example, the seeds sown represented here are the message of the Gospel, which we sow by the time we spend in service to our Lord and Savior. This example also includes using our talents from God to spread the Gospel message to the world.

Our Father in Heaven's desire for us is that we live our lives in faith to Him, with a joyful life in the joy we know through the promise of eternal life we have through the mercy and grace of God. The grace shown to us by God is far beyond anything our minds or our imagination will ever be able to conceive in this life. What is so unique is that while we were sinners and always will be, our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus laid down His life on the Cross of Calvary to pay our sin debt (Romans 5:8). He did this out of love so that we might know life to its fullest (John 10:10).

Contrary to popular belief, this full life has nothing to do with the amount of silver and gold that we accumulate in this life; it speaks of the eternal life that we have because of God's great love, mercy, and grace. Through Christ Jesus's resurrection, we have been raised to a newness of life, to live as a new person. The old person is dead, and the new person is free from the chains of slavery of sin (Romans 6:6).

To ensure the completeness of our spiritual growth, God has placed His Holy Spirit inside the hearts and souls of His followers and believers. Paul's remembrance is that those who give freely of themselves to the Gospel of Christ Jesus and the service of others will receive an abundant reward from God. This compensation from God is most certainly not why we serve Christ Jesus and others; it is because we love Him and want to please Him by the way we live our lives.

God sends all believers to assure the Gospel of Christ Jesus is made available to all the lost souls in this life. Also, those who are hurting and in need will be comforted by the knowledge that Christ Jesus loves all people and that He will never leave or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6; Hebrews 13:5). When we generously sow out of Love for God, we will be replenished by the Lord so that we might be able to continue our service to Christ Jesus, to help those in need, and to assure the continued spread of the Gospel to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8).
