Bible Verse of the Day Wednesday July 21st 2021

Psalm 62:7-8 My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

The study of the Holy Word of God should be much more than just learning as much as we can about our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, although that is a grand pursuit. The Word of God, the Bible, is God speaking directly to us. He loves us with a love that no human writer can articulate. His great love, mercy, and grace are ours in everyday blessings that sometimes we might not even realize came our way. God pours out His heart and soul to us, and we can experience that on a more profound level when we are consistently in His Word. Not just reading and studying God’s Holy Word but making it part of who we are, in our everyday walk, encompassing our minds, bodies, souls, and spirit.

In this Psalm, David encourages all people then and now to pour out our hearts to God. We do this through prayer, the most vital tool that God has provided us with; it allows us to bow down before the very throne of God. David says that his salvation and honor depend on God and that we should trust Him for every step in our daily lives.

Prayer should be a place where our minds and spirit are free to communicate with the one who loves us more than anyone else. God already knows all our weaknesses and needs, but He loves to hear from His children and know that we are dependent on Him for our Daily bread. The beauty of this is we do not have to worry about what might come tomorrow; in the example of the Lord’s Prayer, Christ Jesus tells us to pray like this: “give us, this day our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11 and Luke 11:3).

God will elevate us to a sphere where we experience complete peace and joy when we disregard any worry or anxiety about what might come tomorrow. This state of peacefulness gives us more confidence to face what will come down the road, but more importantly, it will free us of so much clutter in our lives to have more time to spend in prayer and the study of His Word. Moreover, we will be more effective witnesses to the Gospel of Christ Jesus.
