Bible Verse of the Day Friday August 13th 2021

1 Thessalonians 5:4-5 But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.

Our faith in the substitutionary work on the Cross of Calvary on our behalf will free us from the power of darkness (Ephesians 6:12). The ruler over the power of darkness is Satan, who controls the rebellious, the unbelieving, and the unsaved (Mathew 25:30). We are chosen and called out of the dark by God to pronounce and proclaim praises to His honor and glory (1 Peter 2:9).

When God delivered us out of the Kingdom of darkness and called us into His Kingdom of light, it was not a gradual process; it was a single event of joy and celebration, not only here on this earth but among the Angels in Heaven as well (Luke 15:10). As powerful as Satan is, he does not have the power to remove or displace us from the Kingdom of God, the Kingdom of light. Satan's only tool to his arsenal is to attempt to fool us into believing that we are not part of the Kingdom of the light. Satan will try to motivate us to take our eyes off of Jesus and look at what the world offers. We must never forget that everything in this world is temporary and fleeting, whereas the Kingdom of Light is eternal (2 Corinthians 4:18; Matthew 24:35; 1 Corinthians 7:31).

God led the Children of Israel out of slavery in Egypt, and He frees us from the slavery of Satan and sin. He led the Israelites to their Promised Land, and He will lead us into our promised eternal life.

To redeem something is to be forced to pay for something that first belonged to you that was lost, stolen, or given away. When God created the first humans on this earth, they were perfect in every way, sinless. When Satan fooled them into thinking that disobeying God would make them like God, knowing good and evil (Genesis 3:4-5), that allocated and earmarked them and all of their children down through the ages into Satan's Kingdom of Darkness. In God's great love, he promised a Savior that would redeem all people from the Kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of light (Genesis 3:15; 1 John 3:8).

These two verses (1 Thessalonians 5:4-5) have a powerful message; they let us know what happens to us at the heartbeat of our salvation and what Christ Jesus did for us on the Cross of Calvary. These few words speak volumes in letting us know where we stand with God. Once we know where we stand, it will be more difficult for any earthly influence to dislodge us, and we will be more likely not to search around for other places to stand. The Lord Jesus frees us from the penalty of sin and daily saves us from the power of sin (Our Sanctification). There is one more incredible blessing coming as a result of this, and that is Jesus will set us free from the presence of sin one day. When this life is over, we are home with the one who loves us as no one else can.
