Bible Verse of the Day Thursday August 26th 2021

Ephesians 3:20-21 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.

Paul worked tirelessly to bring together the Jews and Gentiles into one Body of Christ. There had been animosity between the two groups for many generations, and only God could break down the barrier that separated them and create one group in the Body of Christ (Galatians 3:28).

Paul was saying that this reconciliation between the Jews and Gentiles was God’s doing, and it was immensely more than anyone at that time could even imagine. From the viewpoint of the Jewish leaders, the idea of Gentile salvation was out of their thought pattern. However, with God working through the Holy Spirit in Paul and the other dedicated Christians during the first century, this did happen, and God’s church grew stronger for it. Most importantly, this brought honor and glory to our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, then, now, and for all generations.

So much for Bible history, you say, “what does this mean for us today?” It means the same thing that it did when Paul spread the Gospel of Christ Jesus across two continents. The Lord may never call us to a mission field on the other side of the world, but there is a need for heralds of the Gospel in our hometowns and back yards. There is still today a division of God’s people that needs reconciliation. There are still lost people that need to hear the message of the Good News of the Gospel. There could be someone in your life, maybe a family member, perhaps a close friend, or just an acquaintance that you find it hard to imagine, that they might ever accept Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior. However, God can do “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.” Our job is to spread the Word of God to those that do not have it in their lives, pray for those people and believe, and have faith that God will perform a miracle and draw that person to Himself (John 6:44).

God can accomplish much more through us, as His followers and believers, than we can comprehend. God is offering us the power to live a life far beyond what we might experience away from our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus (Ephesians 4:18-20). Therefore, to those of us that Christ Jesus has called to spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth, which is every saved, born-again believer in Christ Jesus, let us discharge the duties given to us. Let us always have the faith to expect more than our feeble human minds can conceive. And most importantly, in everything we do, do it for the honor and glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31; Colossians 3:17).
