Romans 15:33 The God of peace be with you all. Amen.
Peace is just one of the magnificent and glorious virtues exhibited as qualities of the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Peace comes into the life of the follower and believer in Christ Jesus who matures in grace and becomes more and more surrendered to God. When one is walking in the only truth, Christ Jesus, every characteristic and quality of the fruit of the Spirit will be an article of clothing in their vestment of righteousness.
A soul and Spirit at peace are very dear in the sight of our Lord
and Savior, Christ Jesus, and most treasured uprightness to all of God’s
Children. Therefore, a posture and standpoint of peacefulness should be a
mainstay in the life of every believer and follower of Jesus. At the heartbeat
of our acceptance of Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we receive peace with
God, and we can enjoy the peace of God when we walk in one with the Holy Spirit
of God. The God of peace (Romans 15:13, 33) sent into the world the Prince of
Peace (Isaiah 9:6), who tore down the wall of enmity between God and humanity
through His sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary. God sends His peace like the
dove that came to rest on Christ Jesus (John 1:32), and one that walks in peace
is an indication that they are filled with the Spirit of Peace, God’s Holy
Spirit. Christ Jesus set aside His glory
in heaven so that peace between God and humanity could become a reality for all
humankind on the earth, for the intended purpose of the glory of God.
There are times in this life when we are walking through a dark
valley of struggles, and we forget about the peace from God that surpasses all
understanding (Philippians 4:7). During these trials and tribulations, it
becomes easy for us to become burdened with worry and apprehension.
Unfortunately, as Christians, we are not immune to the troubles and cares of
this life, but we are free from all worry, fear, and anxiety. We have a solid
promise from Christ Jesus that He has left us with peace in this world of
unrest and strife (John 14:27).
Sometimes we have to ask ourselves: Why is it that so many do not
trust in this most valuable promise from our Lord and Savior? Could it be that
we are afraid that things will not go our way unless we are in control? The
less we are in power, the more anxious we become and the harder it is to allow
God to have control. So many find it hard to trust our lives to the one
who created the universe and is in control of everything that happens. If God
can control the movements of the entire universe, He can most certainly control
the movements of our individual lives. The promise that Christ Jesus left His
disciples before He returned to the right hand of God, which we read in John
14:27 applies to all that place their faith and trust in Christ.
As the day of the return of Jesus draws nearer and nearer with each passing day, let us all draw ourselves closer and closer to the God of peace through the following and direction of the Spirit of peace. So that we may be drawn closer and closer in the unity of the Spirit with one heart and one mind, all for God’s Glory.
