Matthew 26:27-28 Then
he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying,
"Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is
poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Let your mind drift off
to a beautiful spring morning; you prepare your flower beds for the year. As
you begin to dig, there comes a small stream of water that trickles into your
flower bed, all the brown grass around the bed suddenly turns green, and the
flowers bloom out to their fullest. You then channel the stream of water to
your last year’s tomato plants that are brown and withered, they suddenly turn
green, and the tomatoes begin to grow on the plants. Finally, you drink some of
the water, go into your house, and upon looking in the mirror, you notice all
the wrinkles are beginning to fade, and a youthful look appears that you have
not seen in quite a few years. You realize you have just discovered the
fountain of youth. What would you do? Would you share it with all your family
and friends? Of course, you would; no one would be selfish enough to keep such
a great discovery for themselves.
As children of God, we are partakers of the
most remarkable discovery the world has ever known, which is eternal life
through Christ Jesus our Lord. Yet so many do not see the need to share this
with everyone around them. The more value you place on your salvation and the mercy
and grace of God, the more you will share this with all people. The “Living
Water” fountain should not be hidden away or taken for granted; we should share
it with all. This fountain from Christ Jesus is wide enough for all to drink
from and deep enough for all the bathe.
We should ask ourselves: how well are we doing at sharing our faith with those around us? Do we take for granted the sacrifice Jesus made on the Cross of Calvary? Too many cover this fountain with dirt and hope no one will ever find out they are a Christian. If you were under trial in court for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you? Let us all commit to passionately and energetically telling the world about this fantastic, marvelous discovery, the “Fountain of Living Water.” (Jeremiah 2:13; 17:13; Revelations 7:17; John 4:14)
