Bible Verse of the Day Monday October 11th 2021

Deuteronomy 32:15-21 Jeshurun grew fat and kicked; filled with food, they became heavy and sleek. They abandoned the God who made them and rejected the Rock their Savior. They made him jealous with their foreign gods and angered him with their detestable idols. They sacrificed to false gods, which are not God — gods they had not known, gods that recently appeared, gods your ancestors did not fear. You deserted the Rock, who fathered you; you forgot the God who gave you birth. The LORD saw this and rejected them because he was angered by his sons and daughters. I will hide my face from them," he said, "and see what their end will be; for they are a perverse generation, children who are unfaithful. They made me jealous by what is no god and angered me with their worthless idols. I will make them envious by those who are not a people; I will make them angry by a nation that has no understanding.

The verse of today (Deuteronomy 32:15-21) is a Prophecy of the future of the Nation of Israel. Jeshurun is a title for Israel, which means “the chosen one (Isaiah 44:2). Israel turned their back on God and worshiped Pagan gods of the Nations around them. This prophecy foretells the plight of the nation of Israel and applies to us today as well. God reveals Himself, and humanity loves it, initially. Then the relationship between humans and God begins to weaken and decline for many reasons. Some will become bored, whereas others will develop an attitude toward inpatients because things are not happening as quickly as they prefer. Many cannot conform because they did not realize  the cost of following Christ Jesus. With its promise of fame and fortune, the ways of the world will slowly become more glamorous and essential to some people.

We mistakenly focus on the temporal instead of the eternal and lose sight of just how glorious and powerful our relationship will be in the days to come. We tend to forget about our gratitude and thankfulness to God for what He has done for us. The reasons are diverse and wide-ranging, which are not reasons at all, but excuses and pretexts.

The fleshly or human nature will never allow us to maintain a constant affection for God. From the cradle to the grave, the fleshly mind will develop an enmity towards God that a person walking in the flesh cannot control (Romans 8:6). However, Paul teaches us that as long as we will “walk by the spirit,” these human or fleshly desires will not control us (Galatians 5:16).

God has given us a plan by which we can follow to assure that we are walking in the spirit. This plan includes gathering together with our brothers and sisters in Christ to hold our hearts and souls up to Him in worship and praise (Hebrews 10:24-25). However, when we find other things that seem more important than attending any form of worship services, we are opening the door for Satan to encourage us to walk in the flesh instead of walking in the spirit. When this happens, Satan’s next move is to cause us to view any personal or cooperative Bible Study as unimportant, insignificant, and inconsequential. As this process goes through these stages of deterioration, it becomes much easier for Satan to lead us to believe that Bible study and prayer is just a waste of our valuable time that we could spend accruing more fame and fortune.

Don’t let Satan rob you of something that our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, suffered and died on the Hill of Calvary to offer all people (John 3:16).
