Bible Verse of the Day Thursday October 21st 2021

Matthew 11:28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

We all have to accept and shoulder the heavy incumbrance of the bonds and chains of sin during our earthly lives. The burden and strain of carrying this load of iniquity can significantly lead to bodily fatigue, spiritual weariness, and emotional distress. Our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus is the light of the world and the healing water for everyone that will believe in His name and accept Him as their Lord and Savior. This invitation to “come to me” is offered to every person on this earth (John 3:16). In Christ Jesus alone is found the balm that can soothe every hurt, liberate all suffering in the clutches and bonds of Satan and sin and save a lost sinner from an eternal separation from God in an awful place called hell. Christ Jesus is the only one that can redirect a person’s eternal destination.

The beautiful part about this invitation to come to Christ Jesus is that there are no restrictions or exceptions; Jesus welcomes all. Jesus stands at the door of every heart that is not surrendered to Him and gently knocks upon the door of the hearts of every lost person (Revelation 3:20). The rest God offers us is in Christ Jesus and is an eternal rest (Hebrews 4:10-11). This rest that comes from Christ Jesus is a salvation that is entirely a free gift; there is nothing that we can do to earn it (Romans 6:23). We do not have to go through certain religious ceremonies or be part of a specified denomination. By putting our faith and trust in Christ Jesus and not in ourselves or any particular denomination, we can know the rest that leads to eternal life that comes only through Christ Jesus (Romans 4:5; Ephesians 2:8-9).

Our spirits and souls consist of three attributes. Our minds are the intellectual phase of our being, our emotions, which is the feelings segment of ourselves, and our wills, which determines the pathway we will follow. All of these characteristics can become tired and weary when we do not rest in Christ Jesus. This weariness comes if we choose another path to salvation other than Christ Jesus and Him alone. This wrong choice can happen by legalism, self-inflicted shame, or guilt when we choose worldly wisdom instead of Godly wisdom (1 Corinthians 3:19-20) or believe the lies from Satan that we can do it our way. The Children of Israel wandered around in the desert for forty years instead of entering the rest God had prepared for them because of not believing in God and a fleshly desire to return to their old way of life.
