Bible Verse of the Day Friday November 26th 2021

Philippians 4:13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

This verse is Paul saying that he has learned to be content and satisfied in every situation in his life. To reach this level of contentment, Paul needed the strength only found in Christ Jesus, and so do we. Some take this verse out of its proper context and begin to believe that they are something when they are nothing without Christ Jesus. No bible verse is a standalone thesis; this verse will not work without a clear understanding of John 15:5. There are many verses in the Bible, more than we can name in this short essay; here are just a couple of examples (Galatians 2:20; John 14:6)

To get to the point that our outward circumstances do not affect our walk with Christ Jesus, we must cast away any self-sufficiency and realize and understand our weakness and sinful ways. We must comprehend the truth that our salvation comes only through the grace and mercy of God and finding the strength made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Paul believed that he could do all things that Christ Jesus called on him to do, and so can we. Therefore, we need not neglect any mission or task that Jesus calls us to do. We will never have to dread any persecution that may come our way; we do not have to fear physical death because we have a friend that will never change, he is the same today and yesterday and will be the same tomorrow, and he will always support and sustain us.

The strength the Apostle Paul was alluding to in the text verse (Philippians 4:13) is a God-given strength because he was “in Christ Jesus.” Paul was not only liberated and free from the fame and fortune of the world, but he also did all things through or in Christ who produced vigor and vitality to his life. Paul referred to this same strength in his letters to Timothy (1 Timothy 1:12 & 2 Timothy 4:17). He possessed this spiritual strength in his life because Christ Jesus was in his life (Ephesians 6:10). We all can have this strength in our lives the same way Paul did, and that is in and through our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.

When we always keep our eyes, hearts, minds, bodies, souls, and spirits focused upwards towards Christ Jesus we will discover a strength that no human can produce on their own.

If we will but center our humble, sincere, and faith-filled prayers on Jesus, trust in the power of His Word and His Holy Spirit, when temptation bears down on us, we will discover protection that we previously had not imagined. When our Christian duty seems more than we can endure and when a flow of unholy and unclean thoughts begins to fill our minds and souls, we will always be sheltered and secure in the arms of the one that loves us as nobody else can.
