Bible Verse of the Day Sunday November 21th 2021

Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the day approaching.

This verse opens with a horse and rider analogy, how that we might spur one another towards not only love for God and Others but in His service as well. The writer of Hebrews is speaking of a responsibility God has entrusted to each of His children. We are not an island; we are part of the Body of Christ, each one dependent on the other. If we attempt to use our human body without one of the parts, the results will be less than adequate. If we were to try to climb a ladder and hold one of our hands and arms down by our side, there is a possibility we might not make it to the top of the ladder; our descent from the ladder would be somewhat painful. It is the same with the Body of Christ (the Church); when one of the parts is missing, the rest suffers. It would be problematic, leaning towards the impossible, to spur one another on to love and good works if we never fellowshipped with each other.

In this communication age that we live in today, many believe that watching a preacher preach a sermon on TV is sufficient spiritual nourishment to get through the coming week. However, the church service is much more than just a preacher delivering a message. It is a fellowship with our other brothers and sisters in Christ to encourage each other. Group worship and praise hold our hearts and hands up to Christ Jesus, thanking Him for His Love, Grace, and mercy. It is time spent to share with the Body of Christ what the Lord has done for us and share our spiritual and physical needs with people who love and care for us in a way that the World cannot comprehend or understand. It is a time to go to the Throne of God as a group of God's Children, to express our gratefulness and thankfulness as a Body of Christ Jesus.

When we do forsake the meeting together, it is a sure-fire way to give Satan a toehold in our lives. The more this continues, that toehold becomes a foothold, and if allowed to continue, that foothold becomes a complete control of our lives. In addition, this will give Satan an avenue by which he will bring discouragement into our lives, which breeds mistrust, misgiving, and doubt, adversely affecting our faith.

We cannot survive in life on our own; we need each other. Therefore, as followers and believers in Christ Jesus, God is calling on us to meet together regularly to motivate, encourage, and support one another. So that we might be able to inspire and stimulate each other to live a faithful life of service to the one that sacrificed His life, that we might have the full life, that is, life eternal (John 10:10).

We do all this "all the more, as we see the day approaching." We are all aware that no one knows the day or the hour that Christ will return. However, we know that He will, and with the day of our ultimate victory assured, we should be motivated more and more to support and encourage each other.
