Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis describes the beginning of this earth we call home. This
great scripture tells us about the universe's origin (Hebrews 1:2). Genesis
also lets us know God's plan for life, humanity, marriage, good and evil.
Included in this list is the intent of God for language, government, culture,
relationships between all people, and true religion.
We are part of the creation of this earth that was created by God
in the beginning of time as we know it. It is very difficult for us, as mere
humans, to understand and comprehend existence before time as we know it.
However, before a time that is comprehensible to us, God existed and revealed
Himself as the great “I am.” Before there was an order to the universe before
the sun, moon and stars blanketed our planet on all sides, God was and has
always been.
Worldly philosophers and scientists will tell you that our world
came into existence through a force known as the “Big Bang Theory.” Some cosmic
force exploded some millions of years ago and this beautiful planet we live on
came into existence. This makes about as much sense as one of us hiring a giant
cargo helicopter to dangle a bundle of logs hundreds of feet above the earth
and suddenly releasing them to come crashing down to the earth’s surface, and
they magically form a beautiful log cabin.
Every new beginning whether it is the start of a new day, a new
week, a new year or even a new century, should begin with God, He is our
ultimate Genesis, our new beginning. Every one of our new beginnings, our
entire future rests in the Will of God, in His grace, His love, and His Mercy.
He will journey with us as we move into every new beginning. All we accomplish,
all that we are, or ever will be is for His Honor and His Glory. As we go
through each second of every day, we should reflect the Light of the World,
which is Christ Jesus.
Several years ago, I was subbing for an elementary class at West
End Christian School. One of the children in the class said that he had heard
the sun was going to burn out at some point in the future. I told him that when
this life was over, we would no longer need the SUN because we would be living
in the light of the SON.
