Bible Verse of the Day Wednesday February 9th 2022

Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.

Karl Barth was lecturing to some students at Princeton. One student asked the German theologian, "Sir don't you think God has revealed himself in other religions and not only in Christianity?" Barth's answer stunned the crowd. Then, with a modest thunder, he answered, "No, God has not revealed himself in any religion, including Christianity. Instead, he has revealed himself in his Son."

We have all gone through, are going through, or will someday go through times of loneliness. When we lose someone that we loved very much in our lives, the pain and grief sometimes feel greater than we can endure. When we go through an illness, we feel inevitable loneliness. Even though we are surrounded by friends and loved ones that show us kindness, we must endure the emptiness of suffering alone.

People worldwide are in search of someone who will truly understand what we are going through and help carry our burdens. It is a useless and hopeless undertaking searching among mere humans. We must be in tune with Christ Jesus, who tells us to "come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). Because He became flesh and dwelt among us, He knows all things, including the trials and tribulations we are going through, because He has walked the same paths.

Any of us that has ever spent any time alone realizes the importance of companionship with friends and loved ones. Yet, as much as our fellowship with other people means to us, our walk with our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus is sweeter because it will last for an eternity. God promises us that He will never leave or forsake us, and this eternal bond cannot be shaken or loosened by the most catastrophic of life's storms that come our way (Psalm 27:10).

Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

We do not have a promise of a life without burdens and tribulations, our paths through life will have us walking through water and fire. God’s promise is although we will have to walk through fire and water we will not be burned or drowned because our Savior walks with us. Let us place ourselves in the capable hands of the only one that can truly promise us: “never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
