Romans 14:11 It is written: As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.
When we see the term “it is
written” starting a New Testament verse, it indicates a verse from the Old
Testament. For example, from Isaiah 45:23b, “Before me every knee will bow; by
me, every tongue will swear.” What God promises will undoubtedly come to fruition.
Consequently, all that place their faith and trust in Christ Jesus have an
anchor for their souls (Numbers 23:19; Hebrews 6:13-19).
God does not desire that all
people bow down to Him out of some need within his being. On the contrary, God
is well aware that all good in this life comes from within Himself.
Consequently, our only path to righteousness is surrendering ourselves, heart,
mind, body, and soul to God through Christ Jesus. In the same manner that grace
comes from God, so does judgment because humanity rejects and despises His
grace.
There is only one requirement
for salvation, contrary to the message from the works salvation advocates. As a
matter of fact, Jesus assures us that He is the only way. He said that He was
the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6; Acts 4:12; 1 Timothy 2:5). Sadly,
many people do not accept the free gift of salvation because of unwarranted
anger against God. These lost souls say that they cannot believe that God would
send someone to Hell. The truth is that God does not send anyone to Hell; a
person sends themselves to Hell by refusing to accept Christ Jesus as their
Lord and Savior. We must understand that "Lord' and "Savior" are
two different terms. Jesus is our Savior when we fully accept His sacrifice on
the Cross and place our faith and trust in Him alone. Jesus is our Lord when we
turn our backs on the world's ways and surrender our entire bodies and souls to
Him. When we say to Jesus: I am giving up any worldly desires and surrendering
myself to You to do with me what you want.
A
day is coming that every knee will bow to Christ Jesus. As for us as
Christians, our knees are already bent to the one that brought about our
salvation. We live in expectation of a day when all people will bow before the
King of Kings. Until that time arrives, let us make every effort to ensure that
we can influence as many as possible to bow before Christ Jesus, not in fear
but in joy and peace.
