Bible Verse of the Day Friday July 15th 2022

2 Corinthians 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

Those of us who have reached what the world considers "old age" sometimes joke about the effects of advanced age on the body. Our minds have an idea of what we want our bodies to do, but the body has other ideas. Yet, as followers and believers in Christ Jesus, we know that the advancement of biological age brings us closer to the time Jesus takes us home to be with Him for eternity. When that occurs, we will receive our immortal bodies that do not decay.

I believe most of us like the idea of getting older less and less with every day that passes. We can be thankful that every day we live in this life is a day closer to going to our eternal home to meet our Lord and Savior. God's purpose for all His children is to move into spiritual maturity gradually. As believers in Christ Jesus, we step by step adapt our thinking to the Holy Word of God that will transform us progressively into the image of Christ Jesus. We will never reach that goal in our physical lives but should continue to strive towards that goal as God leaves us here in this life. Destruction and construction progress concurrently in our earthly lives as Christians. While our physical life gradually withers on the vine, our spiritual life becomes more vigorous. While temporary trials and tribulations may attack the follower and believer in Christ, we will not suffer defeat. To counter this assault from Satan, we must have a daily diet of the Holy Word of God, prayer, and fellowship with other Christians. Weekly visits to the Hors d'oeuvre table at Sunday Morning service will not suffice. It requires a daily diet of what God has for us.

With God's help through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, He reminds us of the heavenly importance of what we do in our mortal bodies. Through the direction of the Holy Spirit, God will transform us into being more Christ-like and preparing for our eternal home in Heaven.
