Matthew 25:34-36 "Then the King will say to those on his right, ’Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick, and you looked after me, I was in prison, and you came to visit me.’
When we give of ourselves to help others, we are offering to the Lord. We do not earn our way into the Kingdom because of any good works or deeds we perform. Still, we gain citizenship into His Kingdom by accepting Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior and having a personal relationship with the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords. What we do for our fellow human beings, we do for our Lord and Savior. Jesus is waiting to meet with us at homeless shelters, jails, or in the faces of homeless and needy people. Whatever we do to or for a fellow human being, whether good or evil, our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, will consider it done to Himself. (Matthew 25:40; Acts 9:4, Acts 9:5; Hebrews 6:10). Our good works do not earn us a place in the Kingdom of God; however, our good deeds reflect the state of being in our hearts, minds, bodies, and souls.
There is an old Rabbinical saying that goes: “As long as a poor person stands at your door, God stands at his right hand. If you give him comfort, the one who stands at his right hand will comfort you.”
