Bible Verse of the Day Thursday September 22nd, 2022

Titus 2:1 You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine.

If we were going to explain oratorical speaking preachers, the proper response would be that if a minister told you that the sky was green and the grass was blue, that would be absurd. If that same speaker that made that untrue statement said it while roaring like a lion, beating on the pulpit, and moving from one end of the platform to the other like a gazelle, that would be oratorical speaking.

This eloquent speaking style does not make the false statement any less of a lie. Still, people become motivated by the way speakers express themselves, even though we might have some reservations about the validity of the content of the message. So Christ Jesus warns us in the Gospel of Matthew about these wolves that come in sheep's clothing" (Matthew 7:15).

We must not be influenced by the teachings of someone even though they try to stand on years of preaching just because they roar and pound their fist. Some speakers can be very sincere, but they can be sincerely wrong. Paul tells us that there will come a day when people are turned away from the truth by those that entertain them or speak messages that tickle their itching ears (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

We must be very cautious and confirm the truth of God's Word, even if someone we know and trust teaches us, no matter how eloquent or sincere their speech may seem. When we stand before our Savior, we will be alone; the ones that swayed us to the false gospel will not be there to defend us. Instead, Satan will use anyone who will allow him to use them to ensure we do not know the truth about our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. Therefore, do not be taken in or confused by someone just because they are eloquent in their speech. The message from Satan delivered by his silver-tongued servants is never a replacement for the simple truth of the gospel.

When Ronald Regan was President, he had many advisors that he trusted, but he had a motto that he followed daily: "trust but verify." If you want to recognize Satan's lies readily, all you must do is be very familiar with the accurate Word of God. If Bible study is not your daily activity, it would be to your eternal advantage to make it so.
