Bible Verse of the Day Friday October 7th 2022

Exodus 17:15 Moses built an altar and called it The LORD is my Banner.

The amount of faith we might consider ourselves having is not what is essential; the critical aspect of faith is who we trust. Some people have faith in something they have built, great fortunes in the Bank, their genealogical line, unique aptitude, or doing some great works. The thing that is important and critical when our road gets rocky is total faith and trust in Christ Jesus because He has promised He will never leave or forsake us. Everything outside Christ Jesus that we place our faith and trust in will someday let us down, up to and including faith in something we have put together.

When the Children of Israel were in the wilderness, they had to face the Amalekites in Battle. They had no experience in military actions; they had been under slavery for 400 years in Egypt. Moses called on Joshua to choose some men to face the experienced army of the Amalekites. Moses said He would stand on a hilltop overlooking the battlefield with the Staff of God in His hands (Exodus 17:8). As long as Moses was holding up the staff of God, the Israelites were winning the battle (Exodus 17:11). When the war was over, and the Children of Israel were victorious Moses constructed an altar and called it “The Lord is my Banner.”

We as Christians go into battle under the same standard because Christ Jesus is our Banner. We lift His name because He is our Rod and Staff. Similar to the experiences of the Israelites fighting the grand Army of the Amalekites, we do not have to rely on our strength and power because the power of Christ Jesus is ample and abundant for every struggle, we find ourselves.

We will most likely never have to face an army like the one that Moses and the Children of Israel faced in the wilderness. However, we face an enemy even more potent than the powerful Amalekite Army, Satan, and all his spiritual and human followers.

There is confusing information coming to us from all directions, and we might wonder what we should believe. However, one solid constant we can all think about is our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, who will not let us walk this rough road alone; he will always be right there to lead, guide, direct, and comfort us.

This time we are in now is the most crucial in spreading the Gospel of Christ Jesus. We cannot go out into the world now, but we can extend the gospel, nonetheless. Social media, text messages, E-mail, and phones work well for talking to folks about Jesus. Leading someone to the saving knowledge of Christ Jesus through one of these digital methods will work just as well as if we were standing beside the person.
