John 6:38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.
In
this verse, Jesus unambiguously clarifies why He had come to earth and from
where He had come. The objective of the incarnation happened so that the Son
would carry out the will of the Father. Therefore, it is the Father's will that
there would be no one on earth that did not benefit from the sacrifice on the
Cross of Calvary that the Son was going to make. Furthermore, the Father had
willed all that came to Christ Jesus and placed their faith and trust in Him as
the true promised Messiah would experience salvation.
The
last day is the day of the resurrection of all followers and believers in
Christ Jesus when it occurs. But, of course, we do not know when that will be,
only that it is imminent because the Angel of the Lord made that promise on
behalf of God at the ascension of Christ Jesus (Acts 1:11).
This
truth in God's Word that Christ Jesus is returning for His children is of the
utmost comfort and reassurance to all who have placed their faith and trust in
Jesus. Our assurance is not on our meager and frail hold on Christ Jesus, but
on His sure grasp on us, as His followers and believers (John 10:28).
Jesus
reestablished His origin, which was in Heaven. Jesus was entirely God and Fully
Human; however, Jesus fully surrendered to His Godly attribute. This way, He
proclaimed that He was here on earth to do the will of the Father. Satan
attempted to appeal to His human characteristics when Jesus was in the
wilderness for forty days; however, Jesus reminded Satan of the truth of the
Word of God.
The
ones near Christ Jesus, while He was on the earth, saw the miracle of feeding
the 5000. However, they missed the point entirely; all they saw was the
physical bread and were blinded to the spiritual bread. In the Lord's Prayer,
Jesus taught that we should ask this day for our daily bread, indicating that
our heavenly Father knows our daily needs and will supply them daily (Matthew
6:32-34). This request also applies to our spiritual needs, our spiritual daily
bread, which is the Word of God (Matthew 4:4). This is the aspect that the ones
there that day at the feeding of the 5000 missed; they were more
concerned with their stomachs than their immortal souls. Unfortunately, some
today have fallen into that same snare of Satan's, as exampled by the
prosperity gospel movement.
God
will not reject anyone that accepts Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
Therefore, our entry into eternal life with Christ Jesus has nothing to do with
our worldly qualities or human status. Jesus has made it clear in this
scripture verse and other places in the Bible that He and the Father are one in
mind and spirit (John 10:28-30).
