Titus 3:4-5 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
His glorious plan of eternal deliverance and salvation is the
highest and supreme manifestation of God's love. Christ Jesus was prearranged
and chosen by the Father to carry out His eternal design of salvation, which
had been in God's master plan from before the beginning of time as we know it.
The Father's plan was to be fulfilled by Jesus by sacrificing His perfect,
sinless blood on the Cross of Calvary.
This grand plan was all to
come about because of the boundless and unlimited graciousness,
loving-kindness, mercy, and grace of Christ Jesus that we could not even begin
to comprehend. There was not a shadow of change in the Godhead. Still, the
gracious plan of salvation manifested the depth of His tremendous love towards
us, which stands starkly silhouetted on time's horizon and the ambit of
eternity. The love in the totality of the Godhead prevails in
contraposition to humankind's dreary, depressing, and inadequate love. The
wondrous and grand love God has for all people of all times made its
manifestation on earth in the person of our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, who
not only willingly but joyfully took the shame and pain on the Cross that
should have been ours (Hebrews 12:2).
The exhilarative love
imparted upon all humankind flowed out to all who might accept His tender
invitation to eternal life on a rough and coarse wooden cross a little over
2000 years ago. The beauty of this is that Jesus won salvation at the
crucifixion, which is still in effect today and will not change as long as
there are day and night on this earth.
The foolishness of those contemplating the false notion that
some good works or living a righteous life could provide even one tiny drop in
God's boundless and absolute fountain of living water is the utmost
irrationality. Salvation and eternal life comes because of the substitutionary
work done for us by Christ Jesus on the Cross of Calvary. No matter how much
some might want there to be another way, and some believe there has to be
another way, Jesus is the only route to the Father. The simplicity of the true
Gospel is sometimes more than prideful humanity can bear; however, Jesus is
still and always will be the way, the truth, and the life and the only way to
Eternal Life.
