John
9:5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
For the limited time that Jesus would
spend on this earth, the Father had set about a specific period that The Son
would dwell among humankind. Therefore, when Christ Jesus said, "He was
the light of the world," it was an offer to all people of salvation. Sin
in this world will cause spiritual blindness in humankind, and they will not be
able to see the truth of the Gospel of Christ Jesus. Therefore, Jesus, as the
world's light, will open the eyes of the spiritual blind so that they might see
the truth and want to come to the saving grace of Christ Jesus.
When Jesus and His disciples
approached the blind man, those walking with Jesus were confused about why this
man was born blind. They asked Jesus if his sin had caused the blindness or
maybe the sin of his parents. Jesus told them it was neither but that his
blindness had occurred so that God could demonstrate His power in him.
There is not necessarily any
connection between a specific disease or disorder and a sin committed by a
person. The alleged counselors of Job presented an array of possible but
misguided reasons that Job was suffering such terrible afflictions (Job 42:7).
Even today, some people want to offer specific reasons why those around them are going through trials and tribulations. All physical and emotional Malaise is a direct result of the aftermath of Adam and Eve's sin in the Garden of Eden. There is a correlation between suffering and sin, but humankind cannot connect the two. Any anguish and agony fall under the providence and control of almighty God and serves only His purposefulness. The universal dilemma is not a question of who has sinned because we are all sinners (Romans 3:23). Any human that accepts Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior will be forgiven of their sins and receive eternal life
Inevitable bouts of pain and suffering are challenging and detailed biblical questions. The writings of Peter in his first letter and the book of Job deal expansively with this topic. The writings in the Book of Job rebuff and discards any connection between a person's sin and the pain or anguish that they may go through. We find this in some religious circles in today's false faith healing ministry. These charlatans and false teachers will attempt to convince someone who does not experience the healing that it is because of their lack of faith. The perception is that the liability of one's affliction or illness is placed squarely on the individual. There is an unambiguous truth that God does, in certain circumstances, bestow discipline on a particular person by allowing specific physical or emotional trials in their life. However, this cannot be generalized that all misery, anguish, or affliction has a correlation to sin in one's life.
