Bible Verse of the Day Sunday November 20th, 2022

Psalm 119:1-2 Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD. Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart —

Many people today and back through the ages had the idea that living a life according to the Word of God would be an unexciting and monotonous existence. This concept is built upon the false notion that if there is no sin, there is no fun and excitement. But, on the contrary, God is blessed, and His heart desires that all of His children share in the blessedness, so He has given us His Holy Word so that we might be able to do just that.

If we were on a ship on the open sea and we knew that sometimes during the voyage, the ship would sink, we would undoubtedly live with some anxiety and distress. However, this apprehension and unease would be less if we knew sufficient lifeboats were on board. The same theory holds in life. Eventually, God will destroy this world we live in by fire (2 Peter 3:10). Still, our worry and concern are taken away and replaced by unmeasurable blessings because we know that we have a "lifeboat" in Christ Jesus that assures us of eternal life.

Data compiled over the years has consistently validated that those living in general conformity to the teachings and guidelines of the Word of God are more joyful and content than those that ignore Christ Jesus and His teachings. But unfortunately, many are still taken in by the allusions and lies of Satan that the only way to live a life of enjoyment is to follow him to the "lake of burning sulfur" (Revelation 20:10).

All people need God to live a life of enjoyment and peace. Unhappiness in the world is because of sin, and the primary reason Satan's lies take in so many is a lack of knowledge of the Word of God. Many years ago, God said that His people were destroying themselves because of a lack of understanding of God's Word (Hosea 4:6). James Boyce said: "The reason we are not happy is that we sin, and the main reason we sin as much as we do is that we do not know the Bible well enough. Apart from being instructed by God, human beings do not know how to achieve happiness."

We cannot know what a surrendered life is short of being told by God. There are certain aspects of a truly joyful life that God has placed in the human conscience; however, there are specific characteristics and qualities of a genuine life of joy that we can only find in God's Holy Word. Some might believe that sitting still and escaping the world will bring happiness and joy, but we must always be involved in some action in life. We can only experience the true Christian life of contentment and pleasure if we move forward by doing something for our Master, our Lord, and Savior, Christ Jesus.
