2 Thessalonians 1:11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith.
The theological
term for praying for others is intercessory prayer. It is not hard to fall into
the trap of praying for our own families but spending little time in prayer for
other people (1 Samuel 12:23; James 5:16). As followers and believers in Christ
Jesus, we should be at our best when we pray to God because our prayers usher
us into the very presence of God. It is impossible to be something that we are
not in God’s presence because He sees into our hearts.
It is a great
blessing of God to know that someone is praying for us when we are on the
mountaintop or when we are walking through some dark valley. Intercessory
prayer is a powerful force in the sight of God, but group intercessory prayer
carries even more power. Something wonderful and powerful happens when two or
more people come together in the name of Christ Jesus, our Lord, and Savior
(Matthew 18:20).
Paul’s
intercessory prayer for the Christians at the church in Thessalonica was that
God would fulfill every desire they had to serve God and others. Paul’s prayer
for the Thessalonian Christians was that God would make them “worthy of his Calling.”
The calling of the brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus at Thessaloniki was the
same calling we have today: to hold the name of Jesus above all other names.
Moreover, To bring honor and glory to God by how we conduct ourselves among all
people, saved or lost.
Intercession
is the greatest blessing and pleasure in conjunction with our relationship and
intimacy with God. There will always be battles that we must fight because our
enemy Satan will come at us from every direction; thus, we all need prayer. God
is always looking for intercessors who will give of themselves in prayer for
others. Christ Jesus seeks to find intercessors who will come forward and say
to Jesus, “I want to be an intercessor for you to help spread your gospel
throughout the world.” We have a role to play in God’s master plan, we cannot
do God’s part, but He has allowed us to have a stake in His plan for His
children. It is not that He needs us but that He loves us so much that He wants
us to be a messenger or heralds to proclaim His message to those that have not
yet heard the truth that the only way to salvation is Christ Jesus.

The
greatest intercessor in the history of Humankind was our Lord and Savior,
Christ Jesus. He interceded for us on the Cross of Calvary, where He gave all
of himself so that all of us could know true forgiveness of sin and receive the
most glorious gift of all, the gift of eternal life through Him.
