Bible Verse of the Day Thursday December 8th, 2022

Psalms 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s Word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.

Psalm 18:30 is a Psalm of David that was written shortly after Saul's death and David's ascension to the throne. Verse 48 says: "from a violent man you rescued me," which would almost certainly indicate King Saul. Verses 43-45 talks about God making him "the head of nations," suggesting that David was already the King of Israel. Only three psalms (78, 89 & 119) are longer than this Psalm, and only one other Psalm (60) whose title is longer.

God has no defects; that is everything about God. His attributes, qualities, and characteristics are without fault, error, or weakness. He is Perfect, all of His ways are perfect, and in Him, there are no defects, imperfections, shortcomings, or flaws. God is perfect and complete in every way, but every aspect of God is unparalleled, unique, and in perfect harmony. God is the fortification, safeguard, and rampart that secures and protects all that trust Him and surrender to his will for their lives. No personal armor or protective gear ensures the soldier of Christ Jesus, as does the Armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18).

God's Word has been tested down through the ages as silver or gold, by the fire, and like every other aspect of God, found to be perfect. God's Word has withstood tests by friends of God and found to be sufficient for support in trials, tribulations, and smooth sailing. God's Word has withstood tests by the changes in human affairs through the centuries and found more than abundant to adapt to all changes. Some have tried to destroy it but failed. Some have attempted to dim God's light, but it is still as bright as ever and illuminating our paths.  God is the protector of all that take refuge in Him. Verse 2 of the 18th Psalm tells the complete, all-embracing, and all-inclusive story. "The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold (Psalm 18:2.).

The bottom line here is that all of the ways of God are without fault and perfect, and His Word is trustworthy, constant, and dependable. He is the only one and true God, a reliable and steadfast defense against all foes, human and spiritual. God is, always has been, and always will be the "Solid Rock" on which those of us that put our faith and trust in him stand (Deuteronomy 32:4; 32:31; Romans 8:31; Psalm 28:7; Psalm 84:11; 115:9; 3:3; Proverbs 30:5). God is our creator, our sustainer, and our Savior.
