Bible Verse of the Day Wednesday December 28th, 2022

Proverbs 28:13 Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

Has there ever been a time in your life that you wanted to hide from the world? This undertaking would certainly be a fool’s errand. Since we know that God sees and knows all; why would someone entertain the thought of attempting to hide from God? Little children will sometimes hide their faces in a vane attempt to hide from someone. As adults, we see this as cute and enjoy the antics of our children while they are in the early stages of their lives. However, when an adult tries to hide something obvious from those around him or her, it is a different circumstance altogether.

It is futile to attempt to try to hide our sins from an omniscient God, who sees us not as the world sees us, but who knows our every thought and deed. Closing our eyes and attempting to pretend that whatever sin we are involved in does not exist is futile. Adam and Eve attempted to hide from God in the Garden of Eden after they had committed the first sin. It did not work for them then, and it will not be successful for us in this life. Some falsely believe that as long as we hide our sins from the world, God won’t see them either; nothing could be farther from the truth. God knows what sins we are involved in and that it is creating a void between Him and us.

Sometimes we consciously attempt to hide our sins from God, and other times we simply overlook them. There is nothing outside of the vision of God. He knows our thoughts and movements, whether they are good or bad. We must be honest with ourselves and ask: Are our motives and deeds in line with what would be pleasing in God’s sight? (Colossians 3:23-24).

Every second of every day we are in this life, God is ready, willing, and able to forgive our sins and cleanse our hearts and souls. Some might believe that they have drifted too far from the shore, and God has forsaken them; God will never leave or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:8; Hebrews 13:5; Joshua 1:5 & 1:9; 1 Peter 5:7). This short list of verses mentioned here are just a drop in the bucket of evidence in God’s Word that He stands ready to forgive us of our sins and that He will never leave or forsake us. There is no sweeter sensation in this life than knowing that God is with us and ready to forgive us no matter how far we stray.
