1 Timothy 3:16 Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.
God
revealed many truths to Paul that He had previously hidden from humanity. All
followers and believers in Christ Jesus should accept the mystery of the hidden
truths. However, it is sad that many people who claim to be children of God
debate and question these essential and underlying certainties and realities of
God's truth.
In
this section of Paul's writings to Timothy, the Apostle Paul is giving
instructions to the leaders of the churches on the proper conduct of
Christians. The theses of this particular section of scripture center on our
faith in Christ Jesus and our spiritual walk with God. The truth of the Word of God rests on some
foundational and essential facts of the Bible. Namely, God became flesh and
dwelt among us (John 1:14) and died in the body but came alive in the spirit (1
Peter 3:18). He was ministered to by Angels, believed in by the faithful few in
the world (Matthew 7:14), and then received up in glory.
In
this scripture verse, Paul gives us a brief but concise account of the work and
life of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. The Apostle outlines the bedrock of
Christian doctrine upon which our salvation rests. Christ Jesus was and is the
eternal Word of God that stepped out of His glory in eternity, took on the form
of a human being, lived a perfect life, and went to the Cross of Calvary to
atone for our sins. Only through our faith in these fantastic historical facts
in the truth can a lost sinner be saved and become a member of God's royal
family, co-heirs with Jesus. Divine mysteries will manifest in our lives
through the power of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit of God.
The
only way to receive and enjoy the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is faith and
belief that Jesus was God in the flesh and that He is the only way to salvation
and an eternity with God. Being born again, laying aside the old person, and
walking in a newness of life is the only way to receive the indwelling of the
Holy Spirit. The spiritual believer is the only way Christ Jesus; can reflect
His light in this lost, dark, and dying world.
