Revelations 3:21 To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne.
The
Church at Laodicea was the final of the seven Churches mentioned in the third
chapter of Revelations. God would have had them fall into being either hot or
cold, but indifference, self-reliance, and ill-informed gratification best
describe this sluggish, apostate body of Christ. Jesus told them that He was
standing at their doorway patiently waiting to see if someone would hear his
knock on the door and let Him in.
There
was a lady once who was all alone in the world. She cleaned houses for people
in her town to put food on her table and keep a roof over her head. She had
never been to Church, so one Sunday she decided to visit the big church
downtown. At the invitation, she came forward to join the Church but smelling
the chemical odor of cleaning supplies on her and seeing her ragged clothes;
the Pastor told her to go home and pray about it, and he would do the same. The
next three Sundays, she came forward but got the same response from the Pastor.
She went home and prayed and told Jesus about how she tried to join that Church
but was turned away. Jesus answered her and said not to worry because He had
been trying to get that Church to let Him in for years, but with no
success.
As
born again, washed in the blood, saved believers and followers of Christ Jesus,
our salvation is rock solid; however, we are not to only come to Church on
Sunday morning to warm a pew. We are supposed to follow God's will for our
lives and serve Him and others in the vocation He has called us to. We are to
surrender ourselves, body, mind, spirit, and soul and work the works that bring
honor and glory to His Holy name.
Notwithstanding
the horrid lukewarm standing of the Christians at the Laodicean Church, our
Lord and Savior Christ Jesus has given the most beautiful promise to all that
would reject themselves and remain faithful to Him. To those that overcome the
carnal influence of the world and take up their Cross and follow Him, He gives
the right to sit with Him on his holy and eternal throne.
We
have two paths we can follow, the world with it shiny and alluring silver and
gold trinkets that are temporary, or we can choose to sit with Christ Jesus
upon His eternal holy throne. May all who have given their lives to Christ
Jesus live a life built on the foundation of His righteousness and live as
ambassadors to God. In doing this, may we always focus on the things that bring
honor and glory to His name. and live as reflectors of His light, that would
fall on all of those that are lost and in need of the healing balm of Christ Jesus.
