Bible Verse of the Day Friday March 24th, 2023

Colossians 1:9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives.

Paul's Prayer for the Christians at Colossi and his readers down through the ages was that all are filled with the knowledge of God and God's Word to discern what His good and perfect will was for their lives. We can only accomplish this through the wisdom from the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Wisdom is a gift from God where knowledge is accumulated by learning through our individual Bible Study programs, both self and group study.

The Holy Spirit will lead us into what we should know if we are, number one, indwelled with the Spirit and, number two, faithful to study God's Word. So apparently, Paul was praying here that they, the Christians at Colossi and all his readers down to the present day, would study God's Word to know what God's will is for our lives.

The closest followers of Jesus, His disciples, asked Christ Jesus once what they must do to follow the path that God had set out for them, and Jesus told them that God's work is foundational on one critical element, to believe in the one that He has sent (John 6:28-29). Understanding God's perfect will for our lives in any circumstance will require us to abide by specific spiritual disciplines. This master plan is foundational to daily bible study and daily Prayer. This path begins with a daily consecrated prayer time in which we bow down to His throne and spend time with the one who loves us as no human can imagine. Prayer is not just asking God for what we need. He already knows that Prayer should be a glorious time of worship and praise, seeking to develop a closer relationship with our creator, sustainer, and Savior. Bible study is more than just reading a few verses daily that make us feel good. In our prayer times, if we ask God to lead us down the path of his Holy Word and surrender ourselves, our hearts, and our souls to Jesus, He will lead us where we can find His message.

God has a specific plan for all His Children, all born-again followers, and believers in Christ Jesus. It might take some time to discover what this assignment entails. However, there is a calling that Christ Jesus has given all His followers and believers that we should follow daily (Acts 1:8). Once we are heavily involved in a committed life of spreading the gospel to the ends of the earth, God's specific plan for our lives will become more apparent to us. Sometimes when one discovers what God's perfect will is for their lives, they "symbolically" pray "your will be changed," when the Prayer should be "Your will be done." Sometimes it is hard to walk away from something seemingly solid in our lives to follow a path unknown to us. God may very well start us off in a way we do not know where it will lead, but we will always know He is with us, and we will not have to go down that path alone.
