2 Thessalonians 2:2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us —whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter —asserting that the day of the Lord has already come.
In the last half-century, people have disjointed the Word of God
into an array of heterodox and sacrilegious philosophies and principles. As a
result, Satan and his evil followers, which started in the Garden, have taken
on a whole new life in the past two centuries. Satan's plan is and has always
been to mislead God's children and defraud the promises of God.
Some workers of Satan in
the early days of the Church at Thessalonica had begun to start a
disinformation campaign that they were in the time of Tribulation. Satan aimed
to cause panic among the Christians at Thessalonica and shake their belief in
the Rapture. In addition, there were false letters that were supposed to have
been sent by Paul, falsely claiming that the Christians had missed the Rapture.
At this time, John had not yet penned the Book of Revelation, but numerous
passages in the Old Testament speak of this dreadful time in which God will
distribute his wrath among the world's population.
Satan carries out his direct offensive today to confuse people as to the validity of the truth of God's Word. The best way to perpetuate this fraud and scam is to get the general population to believe that humans write God's Word and is not a direct revelation. Satan knows that no one will be able to understand the truth of God's Word without the indwelling of His Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:14). Consequently, Satan does not want people to accept the salvation Jesus has to offer because he knows that although he has the freedom to spread this misinformation if God's Holy Spirit dwells with someone, God will open their spiritual eyes to the treasure that is the truth of God's Word.
Satan's favorite human
allies are the proud and the arrogant, who believe that they do not need God in
their lives, and, consequently, they are no match for Satan on their own. These
lost souls become a part of a cultist movement whose only objective is to
spread Satan's lies and deceits. He keeps it hidden from these poor lost souls
that they are doing his bidding and convinces them that they are doing this on
their own.
As children of God, the
only way we can fight against the evil campaign of misinformation and blatant
lies is to be familiar with the truth of God's Word. One of the most damaging
errors any follower and believer in Christ Jesus can generate is not making
God's Word a fundamental part of our everyday lives. Personal and group Bible
Study and prayer are the Bread of life that we must have to keep our souls and
spirits from becoming so weak that we are no good at spreading the Gospel of
Christ Jesus to the ends of the earth. Multiple warnings in God's Word against
Satan's evil movement have always plagued humankind. However, when we slack up
on our prayer life, our Bible study, our participation and gathering with God's
people, and our commitment to spread the gospel to the lost on the earth (Acts 1:8),
we will become prime targets for an assault from Satan, to be used by him to be
a part of the problem, not a part of the solution.
