John 1:9-11 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.
The
Greek word "true" comes from alethinos (AL-AY-THEE-NOS), defined as
authentic or genuine. The Word of God is not some manner or representation of
light; Jesus is the indisputable light. Jesus was and is the authentic light
that can change a person down to the very core of their soul when allowed to
shine in someone's life. He was not a symbolic light, as He was not a symbol of
the truth. He is the truth, the only way to life eternal (John 14:6). The true
light reveals and displays not only what and who we are but, more importantly,
who and what we can become. This light that is Christ Jesus is available to
every person born in this world, regardless of who they are or from where they
come. Unfortunately, many prefer to stay in the darkness because they are
blinded by Satan's lies and deceits (John 3:19). Although the true light does
enlighten every human being that has ever lived, the light does not transmit
salvation. Therefore, we must accept the light or remain in the darkness. Many
people refuse to come to the light because they fear their evil deeds might be
exposed (John 3:20).
God
left His glory above and took on human form in the person of Christ Jesus (John
1:14) and stepped onto the world stage. The word "world" in this
verse refers not to the world as the creation of God but the world as the
people that inhabit its beauty. The world, the people that live and breathe,
would not accept the truth that Jesus was God in the flesh, the true promised
Messiah that had come to save the world from its sin.
There
has never been or will ever be one person that has drawn breath in this world
to which God failed to reveal himself. However, there will always be some that
not only refuse to believe God is in total control but rebuff the revelation
through the Bible and even attempt to discredit the truth of the Word of God,
There
has always been some debate about whether receiving Christ Jesus can save a
person. This scripture verse indicates that we can, no matter which side of the
discussion. However, receiving is an alternative expression of believing
(Colossians 2:6). Receiving without acknowledging is akin to inhaling without
exhaling. A person becomes a child of God by placing their faith and trust in
Christ Jesus's substitutionary work on the Cross of Calvary on our behalf.
